PhD Student

Yiwen Dong

I'm Yiwen Dong, a Ph.D. student in Structures as Sensors Lab at Stanford University, advised by Professor Hae Young Noh. My current research focuses on human/animal health and activity monitoring through structural vibrations induced by their interactions with the buildings.

My research is highly interdisciplinary and fuses the concepts from Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Medical Science. Specifically, I am working on 3 main topics: 1) gait health monitoring for the elderly and patients with neuromuscular disorders, 2) continual learning for occupant identification and activity recognition, and 3) animal health monitoring for smart farming.
